Dragonspire Media builds websites using a variety of coding languages and on several different platforms. But it’s no secret that we prefer to build on the WordPress CMS platform. We’ve used WordPress in web projects since its pre-1.0 days nearly 15 years ago, and we haven’t looked back since. It’s easily our favorite framework, for a variety of reasons.

1. It’s powerful, robust, and versatile. One of WordPress’ biggest selling points is that it’s easy to use. WordPress has undergone a lot of changes over the years, including a couple of code resets to simplify the admin interface and get back to its roots. But it’s always been a powerful platform with a high degree of versatility. There’s very little you can’t do with it, making it a highly attractive option for building web sites of all types.

2. It’s under constant, continual development. WordPress is built and maintained by Automattic, the brainchild of Matt Mullenweg. WordPress is open source software, and the development team for the platform has grown over the years. They release new versioned updates on a regular basis, with automatic patches distributed whenever bugs and security holes are discovered and need to be squashed. At last count something like 1/3 of all websites now are powered by WordPress, and there’s no sign that the platform is going anywhere anytime soon.

3. It’s supported by a large community of users and developers. One of the best things about WordPress is that it has an avid and active userbase. The community forums are one of the best resources for troubleshooting and support, in addition to Automattic’s own support team. There are literally thousands of plugins and themes that can be installed in WordPress quickly and easily, expanding the functionality of WordPress almost instantly while providing attractive visual layouts to visitors.

4. All the tools you need are easily within reach. We’re huge fans of not reinventing the wheel at Dragonspire Media. A lot of code shops like to build websites and web applications from scratch from the ground up. We prefer to use the tools already at hand to get your project off the ground as quickly as possible, so that you can focus on what really matters — your content and products.

5. It’s easy to use. This is one of my favorite selling points to clients. WordPress has been designed to keep the admin interface as minimal and simple as possible. Not everyone is tech savvy, and many CMS platforms out there are bloated and complicated to use. Not so with WordPress. With only an hour or two of training, I’ve been able to help many clients get up and running quickly.

6. It puts the control in your hands. We’ve always loved the way WordPress allows you to take complete control of your website, to build it and run exactly the way you want to. WordPress gives you that ability. If you can dream it, WordPress will let you do it. Going back to our first point, it’s a powerful and versatile system, and there’s very, very little you can’t do with WordPress as the backbone for your web presence.

If all this sounds like a great deal to you, it’s because it is. And we love building new and interesting projects for our clients. If you have an idea for a new website, or just need to breathe new life into an existing one, reach out to us for a free quote. We’d love to work with you and take your dream and turn it into a reality.
